[BUG report] Transports failing to load units

[:1]The transport unit AI needs an overhaul. I'll try to describe some of the problems briefly but they're so apparent they really should be obvious to anyone playing around with them for a few minutes.
-On giving queued up orders to load transports 1, 2, 3 etc (by issuing a 'load up' order by clicking a transport, shift-clicking and repeating for next transport and so on), units will often fail to board the transports. The problem seems especially prevalent with anything beyond two transports, however just two can be problematic.
-Transports are extremely slow and time-consuming to load. Because they're so unreliable too much time is spent checking transport are getting loaded fully if at all. Air transports are a real chore because of this. Part of the problem seems to be that on issuing a 'load transport' command, units will prefer to load with one type (ie, all Titan bots) in a transport instead of sending whatever units are closer in first.
-Ferry command doesn't work properly, either, at least not for very large groups of units. Setting up a ferry route and issuing order to load for more than 200 ground units, only some transports would fill up completely. Some transports would pick up 3-4 units when there were 100+ units waiting on the rally point.|||Hello,
+1
I have tried to transport many (100+) land units including Experimentals, by selecting experimentals transports and order them to transport to a far point. Then I have selected all my units and click on the departure point. But it seems that just 1 or 2 takes the units. So it was a little bit difficult to send a large near the enemy bases, so I have to walk with my units, really easier, but it was on setons and it is little long to have my units where I want they go.
So it should be easier to set up an aerial bridge by selecting units and by sending units exiting from factories to go transport departure point.
And I think that transports assisting a factory should wait to go fully loaded to rally point of the factory. But I think it should do so if the units exit enough fast to load entirely the transport.
Bye|||gui, here's how to do that:
1) Create a ferry route
2) Set all your factories rally point onto the ferry route marker
All units built from the factories will then be ferried.
Alternatively, you can assign transports to guard factories which will cause them to transport units built to the factory rally point.|||Hello,
thanks for your help, but whatever there are some problems with the transports in this game, was not in FA.
Bye|||Apheirox|||i think it has something to do with the pathfinding for getting units onto transports.
when you tell a large amount of units to use a ferry route at once they all attempt to go on the same spot at the ferry marker. when this happens the first large bunch of units get loaded into the transports and the rest kind of bunch up on top. i am assuming that the units left are still attempting to get to the ferry marker and load but as too many are doing it at the exact same time and the way that units can bump each other out of the way means that no more of the units actually reach the marker, the transports assume no more units are coming and leave half full.
thats how i interpret it at least.|||Transports need help. Please increase transport pick-up-range! Improve UI for the transports. Improve the ferrying interface.
Ex: Transport set to 'guard' a factory of land units. [Setting a transport to guard a factory sets up an auto ferry system for the units coming out of the factory. The transport is supposed to wait until full or a certain time limit (not sure how long) and then deliver it's cargo to the location specified by the factory way point.] You select an existing land unit and select the same transport to load it in as well.
What do you think should happen next? The transport should keep it's original ferrying order for the factory and assume the added land unit is part of its shipment.
What does happen next? The transport assumes you are no longer interested in ferrying for the factory even though you haven't even selected said transport or given it new commands, because you loaded one unit inside it.
Transports should load to full. They are not loading to full before leaving. Oftentimes, even in obvious cases where there are more units commanded to load very close by.
Transports should also be able to set a ferry point for ease of loading large forces (25+). By setting a single ferry point with no drop off you want to have a loading point; currently however since there is no drop off point, units are loading and instantly unloading again! Please allow players to set a single ferry point for loading multiple transports!
Transport pick-up-range from ferrying points needs to be increased as well. If the range from the point was increased based on the number of transports ferrying this might also be beneficial.
