[:1]Hello everyone.
I recently purchased Supreme Commander 2 on Steam, fully updated, along with the Infinite War Battle Pack DLC. Everything seems to be going swimmingly, except one problem which I cannot find a solution for.
There are a number of abilities, such as Hunker and the Jackhammer's Unpack Cannon ability, which do not activate. I try clicking on the icon in the lower-left abilities tab, but to no avail. I have also tried activating Hunker by using the default keyboard shortcut, but again no luck.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Perhaps they, or some other generous soul, would be willing to make a suggestion?
Any help will be appreciated.
Phil|||I would suggest verifying the game cache through the Steam library. Are you sure that those abilities are being activated in a place where it can be activated? Perhaps some terrain might be blocking the deployment.|||Thank you for your suggestion X-Cubed. I have verified the game's cache via Steam, but unfortunately it has had no effect.
As you know, if you hover your cursor over one of the icons - such as Move, Attack, Patrol etc. - then a display will appear, telling you what that button does. For me, this does not happen when attempting to use an ability that refuses to activate.
As for appropriate terrain, this problem applies to structures too. It does not seem to matter where the unit is. The UEF's Short Range Artillery Cannon does not use its Harden Ammo effect, for example. Again, here if I hover the cursor over the appropriate icon once I've researched it, nothing shows up and it does not activate.
Do you have any other suggestions?|||Hum this is a weird problem have your tried to delete all files refering to supcom 2 out of steam and redownload it?
to see if that sorts it out?
seems like the files are there but the supcom 2 system does not seem to pick them up |||I will give it a shot, reddev32. I'll also verify the game's cache via Steam before I launch it after reinstalling, as X-Cubed suggested. And restart the computer. Who knows: maybe one, or all of these steps, will do the trick.
I'll let y'all know. Thank you for your suggestions thus far.|||Keep us posted if nothing of the 3 work i'll pass it onto someone who can help u more.|||Hi again reddev32 and X-Cubed (and anyone else who happens to have joined us).
Unfortunately, reinstalling and verifying the game, followed by a computer restart, have not worked. I have also tried defragging the game content, and that hasn't worked either.
If you know anyone who may be able to help, or if you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks again.|||Ok passed onto gpg servo so you should get a responce soon.
Please be aware that he is a busy man so it may take him a while.|||Thank you very much, reddev32.|||No problem at all.
Always happy to help with what i can |||We haven't seen this problem here. Two possible thoughts:
Try switching from windowed mode (or to windowed mode) and see if it still happens.
The other possibility is that a mod (especially UI mod) could theoretically cause this to happen. Doing a normal uninstall won't actually take mods with it. You would actually have to delete everything in your
\Steam\steamapps\common\supreme commander 2
folder in order to eliminate those files for sure.
- Servo|||Thank you for your suggestions, GPG-Servo.
I will first try the windowed-unwindowed method. If that doesn't work, then I will attempt the full deletion of the game's files before attempting a reinstall.
I will let you all know of my progress soon. Thank you again for your suggestions.|||philipshiraz
