Help for common GPGnet issues

There are several support issues that come up in the forums. In this post I will include the most common.

*NOTE* This post will be appended to over time.

"General Networking Support"

General networking support can be found in the link below. Keep in mind that routers/modems that use Symmetric NAT often will have nil pings to each other. Work arounds to try before buying a new modem/router include dmz, setting up a bridge, or checking to see if the model of modem/router you use supports CONE NAT. There are many many references to these types of issues in the forum you can search on. Also, some helpful community members have created some tools to help trouble shoot your connectivity. You can search the forums for NATTrace and conntest. A big thanks to those helpful community members!

"The looping patch!"

This can often be avoided by going into the program directory and running the patch.exe or the GPG.multiplayer.client.exe manually. You may have to rename the patch.exe (Safer then deleting it), and then run the GPG.multiplayer.client.exe. If you are using Vista, be sure to right click on the .exe and run it as administrator. In the event that this fails, I have included a link to a full install of GPGnet. We will try to keep this as current as possible, but it may fall behind a few versions. Follow the instructions listed in the link.

"CD-Key Already In Use"

Here are some reasons for this message;

1) On a reinstall, the account name being entered is not the account name used on the initial install.

2) People are trying to install the game on two different machines and setup two accounts. Only 1 account is allowed per 1 CD-Key.

3) People have picked up a used copy of the game in which case, the CD-Key has already been attached to an account. There is no support for used copies and accounts can not be reassigned or deleted.

If you can't remember your account info, you can PM TheCoreCommander for assistance. This can usually be sorted out by supplying the CD-Key, your account name if you can remember it, and the email you used to setup the account.

"Invalid CD-Key"

Here are some reasons for this message;

1) The key is being typed in incorrectly.

2) Your connection to the authentication server is blocked (Most Common). This is always an issue with either security/virus software and or router/modem issues. See "General Networking Support" above.

"Continually being prompted to supply a CD-Key after install"

This issue is often related to the "Invalid CD-Key" message and is often a result of something blocking your access to the server. Again, see "General Networking Support".

"Password Reset never sends me my password"

The current server host has been having issues delivering emails to some users. To get around this, you can contact THQ for support or currently PM TheCoreCommander to help out. A link to contact THQ has been provided.

"GPGnet crashes right after launch!"

I believe this issue was related to only Vista users, but the fix was making sure that you had the lastest Flash player 9.x for IE7 via the activeX control. Getting it for Firefox only does not resolve the issue. A link in regards to this issue is below.

"I can't upload mods to the vault!"

Depending on the version of GPGnet you are using, a file didn't make it into the patch that should have. Go here to get it, and follow the readme in the zip to place Mod2Xml.lua in the appropriate directory. This only affects uploading mods and you should only get it if you plan on uploading. Downloading works fine.

"I consolidated my accounts and now it says I am banned!"

When consolidating accounts, it is very important to read the text presented to you. It will tell you what account you are consolidating to. Once keys have been consolidated to an account, the account with no keys will then be presented with a "banned from channel" message if a user tries to log it in with a game selected. You may be able to log in with "GPGnet Chat Only" selected.
