Mouse cursor invisible, some glitches in overlay

[:1]Folks,
Cannot get further than the menus. No mouse icon cursor appears althougg menu options can be highlighted and clicked on. Some buttons look as if they are rendering improperly.
Cheers

3.00ghz pentium dual core

radeon 4800|||This sound like the exact problem im having as well...
Basically i got the cd, installed the game and then it updated a patch via steam. I can log on into the game but then for some reason i cant see the mouse pointer-that is the mouse is moving around the start up screen but i cant actually see the mouse pointer (the white arrow thingy). Anyone know how to fix this?|||Oh bloody hell so what are we to do now then?? i cant play the bloody game arggggggggggg|||give us;
    GPU model number,
    driver version.

you haven't given us anything to help us diagnose the problem.|||mick|||Spooky|||I am now experiencing this problem too, but I know how I caused it.
The game was running fine for me for weeks. I have a dual monitor setup, but I disable the secondary monitor before loading games due to problems I have had in the past. But I decided to give the secondary monitor option a try, unfortunately...
After keeping my second monitor enable and loading the game, I made the bad decision of moving my mouse off the monitor with the game in full screen, on to the secondary monitor that was still showing my windows desktop and a few open windows. The layout and composition of the windows and icons on the second monitor were slightly out of place, as they are commonly when running a game in full screen on the primary monitor, but upon clicking on window on the secondary monitor, the screen refreshed and the layout of the windows went back to normal (something in the system adjusting I assume). But when I drag the mouse back over to the primary monitor, the mouse cursor had become invisible.
Since then I have tried installing the game multiple times, alternated between single screen and dual screen with both displays, I have check all the usual mouse trouble makers (aero, pointer trails, DPI settings, enhanced pointer precision) but with no luck. My mouse is still invisible in the game, and there are some slight overlay issues with the menus and buttons.
This has me quite stumped, as all other games still run fine (including SCFA), so if anyone has any ideas, or knows where those settings are hiding that time my system adjusted itself display wise, it will be much appreciated :)
My GPU is a Nvidia GTX 470 using forceware 197.41, even though I don't think that is part of the issue.|||Delete game.prefs in teh following folder E:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander 2|||sorry, I should have said that was the first thing I tried before uninstalling and reinstalling. As well as manually removing the left over registry keys |||I had this exact same error... happened exactly as described with a dual monitor setup. i was at first very frustrated cause this is a VERY tough glitch to get rid of. here are the steps i took and i got it working fine. i am not sure which of these steps fixed it so its prob best to do them all.
1. i didnt even uninstall the game just delete the whole directory from program files. then under the appdata folder find the gas powered games and delete that whole thing.
1.a. you may need to go through the registry and delete some "Supreme Commander" keys I am not sure. I deleted a few but i'm not sure it was required.
2. uninstall the nvidia driver completely. i just let it default to using the built-in driver that windows 7 came with.
3. unplug and completely disconnect your second monitor. this was very tricky cause the OS still recognized my monitor with the power unplugged. i had to remove the video cable too and then it immediately removed it from my system.
4. reboot and whatnot if you need to... to make sure all the above took effect.
5. install the game. but install it to a different folder than before. perhaps "SupCom 2"
6. run the game without installing any update patches or anything. for me when i ran it the issue was gone. the game started up just fine with the mouse and menus looking good
7. if it all worked fine then you can run the updates and install the latest nvidia drivers... for me they all installed fine and i still see the mouse and menus just fine.
