Supreme Commander 2 Crash

[:1]Hi, look I know this isn't the official forum for SupCom 2, but I've tried everywhere else. I try to open SupCom 2, and it reaches the loading screen, then crashes back to the desktop.

I have a 2.6 ghz core 2 duo, a 9800m gt, and 4 gigs ram, and I've tried changing my drivers around and everything. Can anyone help?|||Well if ur running Windows Xp with service pack 2, you have to upgrade to service pack 3, too get the game fixed|||No, I'm running Windows 7 64|||Bump, can anyone help? Has anyone had trouble with this?|||IrishmanErrant|||which loading screen, may I ask? are you starting a match (from the lobby/campaign) and having it crash at that loading screen, or is it crashing at the very very beginning, before you see the main menu?

[EDIT:] bugger. ninja'd by SteveB, who asks the same thing. ;P|||Watch out for the latest driver. 196.75 has been taken down due to problems with programs. Also, are you experiencing anything else? Like rectangles popping around on the load screen or anything.|||I'm using Win7 64bit with latest nVidia drivers (hasn't made any difference) and I NEVER get past the level loading screen (campaign, tutorial, multiplayer). This is the screen with the flags and the fire/smoke...it all is moving and I get all the tips, and can even shift-tab to pull up the ingame steam, so it isn't locked up, but it NEVER gets past this. I have 8GB of RAM and it shows all being used...I've tried all default resolutions, dual monitor, single...no dice. And it doesn't crash, it just never progresses...gah!!!! Version is 1.15. Downloaded from Steam.|||This can be moved to SupCom2 Tech Support.
You could try downloading the latest DirectX, killing any extraneous processes before playing the game (I end every non-vital process before gaming), verify the game cache, cleaning out any temporary files, etc. There are many things that can be done. Also, your computer can run the game, right?|||Yes, computer is rated for it just fine. Supreme Commander 1 plays just fine with all maxed out options and even dual monitor. Found a couple other people describing the EXACT same issue as me...all seem to be using Win 7 64b...just sits at the loading screen. No cursor, and the tips rotate through at the bottom, but it never loads, so it isn't really even crashing or freezing...just never goes past the loading screen.
Sigh, knew I shouldn't buy this off steam...|||Might I suggest:
DX 9.0c Update
